In April of 1998, I founded The Marketing Machine. What started as a one-man consultancy, has spawned into a seven+ person creative marketing agency located in downtown Raleigh. Of the many hats I wear at TMM, being creative director has always been a position where my core skill set and passion unite to create “art with a purpose”. Let me be very clear, I am not a graphic designer. I have had the pleasure to work with many great designers (Aaron Price, Erika Chapman, Angie Scala, David Coates, Adrian Bostic to name a few). And, my job as creative director is to not only challenge designers/art directors to be the best they can be, but help them look beyond what their eyes can see, remind them of the user experience, and the clients expectations. When starting a project, it’s my role to paint of picture of what we’re trying to achieve visually, create a sandbox for the designers to play in, give them just enough to inspire, but not enough to control. Most importantly, it’s my eye that ensures every piece we produce has TMM’s DNA embedded within. After all these years, I still love wearing this hat!
